Burall InfoCare customer Nottinghamshire County Council enthralled the audience during the Smart Government
Forum meeting at the Chesterfield Hotel, Mayfair.
The forum meets each quarter to discuss the implications of smart cards on e-Government and Burall InfoSmart are
founder members of the forum and regular speakers. In March, Nottinghamshire County Council, NCC, were invited to describe how
their new data-capture system and new business practices have revolutionised the delivery of homecare services.
Pauline McCoy, Head of Direct Services at NCC, told the audience how she had undertaken a radical review of
processes and practices and recommended the use of electronic data capture and planning tools. Key to the success of the system
are a Central Point of Contact and buy-in from all the stakeholders: Staff, Unions, Management, Team Leaders, External providers,
government agencies and, at its heart, the service users themselves.
McCoy described how she then applied for her current job to take responsibility for implementing the changes but
confessed “If I had known I was going to get the job, perhaps I wouldn’t have been so radical with my recommendations!”
The system is being rolled-out County-wide and McCoy described the sheer joy of being able to access management
information which simply would not have been available before. The new system is showing both financial and service benefits and,
importantly, all the stakeholders have warmly welcomed its introduction and are getting benefits from it. Indeed, her presentation
was subtitled “InfoCare: A Win-Win Solution”. |
