After some delays, the official roll-out period of the new Computerised MOT System has finished.
Not all MOT Testing stations are yet fully operational but the roll-out phase officially ended at the end of February
2006 for Burall.
The controversial system is a major step forward in reducing fraud and and improving information flow and has
been implemented by Siemens Business Services under a PFI contract with VOSA.
"Although we shipped all 40,000 custom-designed smartcard readers some time ago, it has clearly taken a little
while for this major system to roll-out fully" said Lawrence Faulkner, Director of Burall InfoSmart. He added "although the
numbers are confidential, we have seen a very steady demand for all the secure personalised smartcards which are issued by us to
the Authorised Examiners of vehicles." |
